Sandra Anderson, the People's National Party (PNP) councillor candidate for the Cedar Valley Division in Western St Thomas, is calling on supporters of both political parties to rally behind the woman who lost her leg in an accident during Thursday's nomination day festivities.

The woman, Ann-Marie Bruce, was among a group of supporters on the back of a truck which hit an embankment as the driver attempted to avoid a collision.

Her leg severed as it made contact with rock in the embankment.

"Despite our political differences, let's join hands and rally behind the injured lady. Our humanity should always prevail over partisan lines," Anderson said.

“This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the uncertainties and unexpected challenges inherent in election campaigns. It underscores the crucial need for heightened safety precautions to ensure the well-being and security of all participants in the political process.”

Anderson expresses her sincerest sympathies to the victim, the Jamaica Labour Party, and the entire Western St Thomas community affected by this tragic incident.

"Let us show our support, both individually and collectively, by keeping her in our thoughts and extending a helping hand where possible. Together, let us heal and create a community that thrives on compassion, understanding, and genuine concern for one another," she said.
