Up-and-coming reggae artiste Nigel Hector, more commonly known as 'Nigy Boy', is set to perform at this year's staging of Reggae Sumfest when the event returns to Jamaican shores later this year.

The announcement was made at the Sangster International Airport by the show's executive producer, Joe Bogdanovich, during a welcoming ceremony for the singer.

"I had a chance to meet Nigy Boy in New York maybe a month ago. And at that time I made the decision to put him on Sumfest...He is truly from another universe," Bogdanovich said.

While Hector is not new to the music space, having performed at Rebel Salute in 2023, he has recently been making headlines following the release of his hit song 'Continent' on Rvssian's 'Dutty Money' instrumental.

"Music is what I am about...It is my mission to tout that line and make music that can resonate with people of all ages, races, and ethnicities. It is a universal language; everyone speaks it. So I will stay in that lane and represent it," he said.

The singer's first major stop for this year will be his alma mater in Kingston tomorrow at the Salvation Army School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. He will also perform in Ocho Rios, St Ann, at Margaritaville tomorrow, and at Aquasol Beach in Montego Bay, St James, on Saturday.

As he looks to the future, Nigy Boy thanked Bogdanovich for his support.

"Mr Bogdanovich, I know you sitting pretty over there. Thank you so much for the endorsement. You saw the talent, and you took a leap of faith to support me. I will not disappoint you," Hector said.
