Woman charged in overseas travel programme probe

Thirty-eight-year-old Shereca Beecher, otherwise called ' Sher', of Calaverty Road, Portmore in St Catherine, has been charged with four counts of obtaining money by false pretence, following several incidents within St Andrew and St Catherine in 2023.

Reports from the Hunts Bay police indicate that, between January and May 2023, Beecher allegedly told four women that she would get them access to an overseas work and travel programme in the United States.

Cumulatively, the women paid a total of $2,175,000 to Beecher to get the process started. When Beecher failed to honour her obligations, the women became suspicious and made a report to the police. She was later identified, taken into custody, and subsequently charged.
