Residents hand over murder accused to police

Residents from Naggo Head in Portmore, St Catherine sprung into action last Tuesday, and quickly apprehended a man accused of murder as he attempted to flee the area. 

The accused man is 33-year-old Deangelo Creighton, a painter from Savannah District in Linstead. 

According to the Bridgeport police, about 5:45 p.m. on February 13, Creighton armed with a handgun approached 30-year-old Patrick Matthews and engaged in a brief conversation.

Shortly after, explosions were heard and Matthews was found with gunshot wounds to the arm and abdomen. He was assisted to hospital by citizens, where he died whilst undergoing treatment.

Creighton was apprehended as he attempted to escape the area and brought to the police. 

He was charged with murder, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and using a firearm to commit a schedule offence on Monday. 

His court date is being finalised.
