With only a few days to go before the Local Government Elections are held on Monday, disgruntled supporters of the People's National Party (PNP) in August Town, St Andrew claim they are being targeted.

The allegations come on the heels of a shooting in the community on Thursday which left one resident, believed to be a PNP supporter, injured.

Members of the police are currently in August Town, St Andrew as tensions rise over the shooting of a resident, allegedly by the police, on Wednesday.

The STAR understands disgruntled residents have mounted a fiery blockade on August Town Road in response to the shooting.

It is unclear what caused yesterday's incident, but residents claim it was politically motivated. However, the police say the victim had a firearm.

Member of Parliament Fayval Williams, and both councillor candidates for the Papine division Darrington Ferguson (PNP) and Venesha Phillips (JLP) met with the residents today.

INDECOM is investigating the shooting incident yesterday.
