Common-law wife, stepson allegedly assault husband during dispute
A St Mary woman and her stepson were taken into police custody last Thursday, after they allegedly assaulted the woman's common-law husband during a dispute.
They have been identified as 37-year-old Cherian Birch otherwise called ‘Munchie’, and 18-year-old Tyron Harrow otherwise called ‘Tyreek’, both from Baileys Vale district in Port Maria.
According to the Port Maria police, Birch and her common-law husband were at home, when an argument developed between them. Harrow, the son of the husband, intervened.
It is reported that Harrow held on to his father, and a struggle ensued, causing them to fall to the ground, during which the accused allegedly held down the husband and inflicted chop wounds to his body.
He managed to escape and was assisted to the hospital by police, where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.
Birch and Harrow were arrested and subsequently charged with the offences. Their court date is being finalised.
