St Mary siblings arrested following attempted goat robbery
A brother and sister from Albany district, in St Mary, have been arrested and charged after they allegedly tried to steal several goats from a farm in the parish last month.
They have been identified as 41-year-old Kwamen Adams and, 44-year-old farmer Kedela Adams.
According to the Port Maria police, about 7:10 p.m. on Feburary 27, a man was approaching his house when he saw an unknown vehicle parked within proximity to where he had left his goats earlier.
He approached the vehicle, and saw Kwamen, along with two other men removing the goats from where he had tied them.
The man called out to them, and one of the men pulled a firearm and pointed it at the goats’ owner. The man, in fear of his life, pulled his firearm, and opened gunfire in their direction.
Kwamen ran into the car while his accomplices escaped in nearby bushes. The occupants were ordered from the vehicle, and the siblings exited.
A search was conducted, during which an imitation firearm was found in Kadela’s handbag. The police were summoned, the scene processed, and the duo taken into custody.
Their accomplices are still at large.
The brother and sister were charged with larceny of cattle, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, using a firearm to commit a felony, and assault at common law.
They are scheduled to appear in the Port Maria Parish Court on Thursday, March 07.
