Disgruntled mother, uncle charged with abusing child
A disgruntled mother who was charged for assaulting her 13-year-old daughter after she was allegedly caught in a compromising position with a teenage boy, is set to reappear in the St Catherine Parish Court in April.
The STAR understands the young girl's uncle was also charged for his involvement in the assault. The duo have been charged with cruelty to a child.
Their bails were extended when they appeared in court on Tuesday.
It is reported that in late February, the 13-year-old child left home without permission or knowledge of her parents. A search was launched which led the mother to a nearby premises.
Checks inside the house revealed the child in bed with a 19-year-old male.
The mother (Crystal) retrieved the child from her position and started to beat her. It is further reported that the uncle joined in and they both beat the child.
The child was left with several bruises and other injuries. She reported the matter and an investigation was launched which resulted in both parties been arrested and charged.
