Police seize firearm from burning garbage heap

The Mandeville police seized an illegal firearm in the Fairfield Mountain community in Manchester, after it was found in a heap of burning garbage on Tuesday. 

According to the police, they received reports of a load explosions from a woman who was reportedly burning garbage in her yard. 

Upon arrival and inspection, a partially burnt Smith and Wesson nine milli-metre pistol with a magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition was found.

The firearm and ammunition were found under the burnt rubbish. No one was arrested in relation to the seizure.
