St Catherine man fined $100k for stolen chairs

Nashaun Spence, the St Catherine security guard who was arrested and charged after he reportedly stole several chairs from a police checkpoint, has been fined. 

He was charged with simple larceny, and after pleading guilty before the St Catherine Parish Court, was fined $100,000 or three months imprisonment.

Senior Parish Court judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller said the accused action was incredible. 

It is reported that on March 23, 2023, the police were on patrol along the Spanish Town Bypass in St Catherine.

Upon reaching the unoccupied checkpoint in the Jose Marti Round-a-bout Spence was seen removing chairs and placing them inside a vehicle.

Spence was accosted he explained that he saw the chairs and not knowing if they were owned,he decided to take them. He was arrested and subsequently charged.
