Man held for Riverton City murder

Twenty-four-year-old Marqes Ellis had several charges laid against him in relation to the shooting death of a 58-year-old businessman on November 2, 2021 on Trelawny Avenue, Riverton City, Kingston 11.

The deceased was identified as Norman Dunkley of West Cumberland Portmore, St Catherine. Reports from the Duhaney Park police are that about 10:40 a.m., Ellis and his two accomplices, all armed with handguns, pounced upon Dunkley as he drove his blue Toyota Surf motor truck along the roadway. The men opened gunfire hitting him before escaping into the area. Dunkley was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Ellis was taken into custody on March 13 after a confrontation with lawmen in the Riverton City community. He was charged with murder, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition following an interview in the presence of his attorney. His court date is being finalised.
