A Portmore, St Catherine man charged for stealing furniture from a house that was being sold was freed in the parish court on Tuesday arising from the continued absence of the complainant.

Tyrone Charlie was freed of a charge of simple larceny.

The Clerk of Courts told Senior Parish Court judge Yvette Wenthworth-Miller that the prosecution would be making a no-case order due to the failure of the female complainant to come to court.

Checks later revealed that a stove valued $4,000 and a sofa valued at $5,000 were missing.

The matter was reported to the Bridgeport police and an investigation led to arrest of Charlie.

He was subsequently charged with simple larceny upon completion of the investigation.

He made numerous court appearances during which time the complainant failed to appeared.

Charlie had maintained his innocence throughout.
