Office attendant accused of taking $100,000 worth of items
An office attendant who has been employed to a government agency for almost a decade was remanded in custody following his first court appearance on Thursday.
Carl Johnson is before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for office breaking and larceny. It is alleged that Johnson was seen on surveillance footage prying open a door to an administrator's office, and removed over $100,000 worth of stationery and pharmaceutical supplies. However, Johnson contends that he is not the person who went into the office.
"A never me go inna the room, a cause some things did go missing some time and dem did blame me," he allegedly said on caution. The matter was heard by Senior Parish Judge Sanchia Burrell and he was made the subject of a fingerprint order.
Johnson was remanded in custody until May 27, for the investigating officer to attend court and for the prosecutor to view the surveillance footage. A subpoena was issued for the complainant to attend court.
