A Corporate Area man who was employed at one of the island's liquor companies is before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court facing allegations that he stole almost $5,000 worth of bottle caps.

Maurice Burke has yet to enter a plea to simple larceny following his first court appearance on Tuesday. Allegations detailed that on March 22, when Burke was leaving the warehouse of the factory, a bulge was noticed in his waistband. When searched, 21 caps of Wray and Nephew seals were found on his person.

He is represented by attorney-at-law Charles Williams, who requested an adjournment in the matter to take instructions from his client. Chief Parish Judge Chester Crooks made Burke the subject of a fingerprint order and granted the adjournment for June 14.
