Cops probe as couple shot to death

Investigators attached to the Manchester Police Division are theorising that the deaths of a couple on Saturday night in Bigwood district in Craig Head, may have been the result of a domestic dispute.

The deceased have been identified as 39-year-old Tanisha Burton and 74-year-old Wilford Mollison.

"It is not a violent community. This community is not normally an area we have violence of that nature. It is where we see domestic disputes and even this incident we think it could be domestic in nature," said Deputy Superintendent Carey Duncan, who heads the division.

Reports from the Constabulary Communications Network state that on July 13 about 10 p.m., residents heard explosions coming from Burton's business place. The police were alerted and Burton and Mollison were found lying on the floor, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. They were both taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Another person who was shot and injured was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

"This is the first double murder for the parish so we will be doing more community engagement, and stakeholders' meeting," Duncan shared with the news team.
