Senior Superintendent of Police Stephanie Lindsay said the Jamaica Constabulary Force is taking the death threats made against Prime Minister Andrew Holness and his wife Juliet seriously.

"We have seen the video and we the police are looking into it. We are not taking anything for granted and things of that nature is not taken lightly so we are looking into it," the senior cop said. On Sunday, a mass shooting in Cherry Tree Lane, Four Paths, Clarendon, claimed eight lives and left nine injured. At a press conference on Monday, the prime minister announced an 'all-out assault' on gangs even as investigators probe the massacre. Yesterday, a video of a person wearing a mask surfaced. The individual had derogatory words for the prime minister as he scoffed at his statements, and hinted that he and his spouse would meet a similar demise.

"Yow b***y b**y Holness, yuh think you can stop mass killing? Everybody inna Clarendon ago dead by next week. A yuh and yuh wife next ... ," the person stated. The video, which was uploaded on social media, has been making the rounds, and commentators have urged the security forces to implement a speedy plan to capture the culprit.

During his visit to the community, Holness told the grieving residents that no stones will be left unturned until those responsible for the bloodbath are brought to justice. The prime minister also stated that increased focus is being placed on organised crime and the people who finance and produce violence.

"Be it the financing, the international cooperation or the legislative support, they will be made available to the security forces to pursue this relentlessly. They (killers) might either meet a judge or meet their Maker, whichever one they choose. But Jamaica cannot countenance this kind of crime," he said.
