Dancehall artiste and social media personality A'mari DJ Mona Lisa says that although fellow artiste Queenie has filed for divorce, she is praying that the couple will work things out.

Last week, Queenie announced that she has taken steps to dissolve her marriage to Dewey after numerous failed attempts to make it work. However, Amari stated that she believes that the divorce is Queenie's way of getting her husband's attention.

"I believe that filing for divorce was just like the last straw towards getting the person to yield. It's about getting them to realise that you need their attention and your affection. Deep within her heart, I really don't think she wants to be separated from her husband because she is truly in love with him and she values her marriage," she said.

"If there is no one on this Earth who values their marriage, I would say that Queenie does. She looked forward to walking down the aisle and it was like a childhood fantasy that came true. She is not ready to walk away," A'mari added.

Queenie, given name Janese Espeut, tied the knot with Dwayne 'Dewey' Scarlett in 2021 after courting briefly. She filed for divorce on August 20, on the grounds of "their marriage has broken down irretrievably". A'mari said she has spoken to Dewey several times, and he never failed to declare his undying love for Queenie.

"I have encouraged Dewey to go home and I have prayed with him and I know without the shadow of a doubt that he is truly in love with his wife. Everything else that is occurring is just social media hype and distraction. One of the things that me and Queenie have in common is that when we are hurt, we will put it out there because we want to be heard. We are not used to going to a psychiatrist - social media is our therapy," she said.

The couple have had numerous verbal spats on social media. Pointing fingers at herself, A'mari said while social media may be therapeutic, some users overshare which results in broken relationships.

"There is also a very dark side to social media and sometimes we say too much and it destroys our relationships especially with our family. We put too much out there but I do wish Dewey and his wife all the best because they belong together," A'mari said.
