Judge blasts women for fighting over boyfriend

A St James judge had harsh words for two women who appeared in court on Wednesday for wounding each other during a fight in October, after it was disclosed that the fight started over an ex-boyfriend.

"At no point in time, whether he is your ex-boyfriend or not, should any female be arguing over a third party, because, with the greatest respect to men, they are not worth it. One of the things I hate is when females appear before me and at the centre of it is a man," Judge Natiesha Fairclough-Hylton said sternly, while presiding over a cross-case between Bianca Delisser, 23, and Shanique Henderson, 29, in the St James Parish Court.

Delisser was before the court on the charge of unlawful wounding, in which she allegedly stabbed Henderson in the shoulder, chest, back and legs with a pair of scissors along Harbour Street in downtown Montego Bay. Henderson was charged with unlawful wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stemming from allegations that she pushed Delisser from behind, triggering the brawl in which Delisser was injured. It is understood that Henderson's boyfriend was formerly in a relationship with Delisser. However, the man was not at court.

During the proceedings, Delisser denied stabbing Henderson and stoutly insisted that the other woman was the aggressor.

"I heard someone yelling and cursing bad words, and I turned and saw her, and I continued walking, and she came in front of me with her phone, videoing me. I stepped away and she pushed me, and we got into a fight," said Delisser.

"Where is the third party today, is he here? This is foolishness. Both of you are charged with offences for which I can send you to prison for three years. It is not worth it, and even if he is Elon Musk, he is still not worth it," Fairclough-Hylton scolded the two women.

Delisser and Henderson subsequently underwent a successful mediation session, following which a no-evidence motion was made for both of them. They were both warned to keep the peace before being allowed to leave.
