32-y-o man arrested over gun possession

A 32-year-old man is now in police custody for allegedly being found in possession of an illegal gun and ammunition in Spanish Town, St Catherine last night.

He is being held on suspicion of possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.

Reports say that about 10 o' clock the was accosted during a joint military and police patrol near Tawes Meadows.

A bag reportedly in his possession was searched and a Ruger P85 pistol affixed with a magazine containing 14 rounds of nine millimetre cartridges was recovered.

The Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the matter.
