Senior citizen charged with impersonating a JP
A senior citizen who was arrested on Tuesday by the St Andrew North police has been charged after he was allegedly found posing as a Justice of the Peace (JP).
Isaiah Shirley, 60, an accountant, is charged with impersonating a JP, using a forged JP seal and using a forged JP stamp.
Reports say that Shirley was under surveillance by cops because of claims that he was collecting payments to sign documents, sources disclosed.
Allegations are that he was seen inside a BMW motorcar conducting transactions.
Reports say when the lawmen confronted him, the man allegedly told them he was a JP.
A JP seal and stamp were allegedly found inside the car.
However, according to checks at the Ministry of Justice it was revealed that Shirley’s appointment as a JP was revoked by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen on December 28, 2021.
He is scheduled to make his first court appearance on December 18.
