LA Lewis offers $2-million reward for capture of Niah Gang killers
After days of mourning the tragic death of TikTok star Niah Gang, self-styled maroon emperor LA Lewis is offering a $2-million reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing.
Niah Gang, 23, whose given name is Xavier Fogah, was shot and killed on Saturday night during a live TikTok session while competing in a match with fellow creator Arribazon.
"If dem shoot a man on social media and get away with that, dat mean dem a send a message to all a the other criminals seh dem can do that, too. Sometimes Jamaicans love to follow, and mi nuh want dat become a trend. It is a viral video whe get millions of view, and mi nuh want a next man tink him can get away with dem tings deh," LA Lewis said.
The entertainer is urging government officials and law enforcement not to ignore the incident. He emphasised the need to stop the rise of violence in Jamaica and ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.
"We have to put a stop to all a this crime whe a happen. We a put out the $2-million reward, and we nah tell people seh dem must call innocent people name, enuh. We want the real people dem who murder the youth to get captured by the police. Mi a urge the police dem to solve this crime because the world is watching. The prime minister and the Opposition leader need to be vocal on this, because dem type a killing here nuh really happen often across the world," he said.
Meanwhile, shocked by the church's silence on the matter, Lewis also spoke about Niah Gang's character, describing him as a kind-hearted, God-fearing individual who used his platform to spread love and support others, despite his occasional fiery persona during gaming sessions.
"Something like this a show up the police if dem nuh solve it, and mi feel like some a di church people dem a devil. Something like this happen and mi nuh see di church dem come out and say anything. Niah was a godly person, him have him time when dem a do dem battles and him will cuss bad words and one bag a ting, but different from that him always a preach love. Him take off a we and always a feed the less fortunate. That man was innocent, and don't even have a [criminal] record. He wasn't on the police radar or nothing. Niah was just a trying little youth, and we have to take a stance," LA Lewis said.
At the time of his death, Niah had nearly 250,000 followers on TikTok, but his following has grown by almost 40,000 since his passing. His death has attracted the attention of rap superstar Nicki Minaj, who expressed her desire to contact his mother or babymother.
