Detectives have formally charged Andrew Watson, otherwise called 'Luther', a 38-year-old farmer of Waltham Park Road in Kingston 13, in connection with the January 10 killing of Johnathan Martin, a labourer from the community.

According to the police's Corporate Communications Unit, Martin, 21, was attacked and killed about 8 p.m. on the day of the incident. The police allege that Watson and several other men confronted Martin at his residence and demanded that he leaves the area.

The group reportedly hit Martin with pieces of board repeatedly, before chasing him along Brotherton Avenue, where he was shot and killed.

The perpetrators then escaped on motorcycles.

Watson was later arrested, interviewed in the presence of his lawyer and formally charged on Tuesday. He was among several persons recently charged by sleuths in the St Andrew South Police Division on Tuesday.

Detectives also charged Jason Munroe, otherwise called 'Moonie', a 26-year-old businessman of Kingsley Avenue in Kingston 10 and Lemon Lane in Kingston 11, with murder, wounding with intent and multiple firearm-related offences following a deadly shooting incident on February 25. The incident took place along Cinnamon Crescent in Kingston 11.

The police report that Munroe, who was allegedly armed with a handgun, opened fire on 27-year-old Warren Grant, otherwise called 'Zeeks', of Hill Avenue in Kingston 11, while he was sitting along the roadway. Grant attempted to escape but was chased, shot multiple times, causing him to collapse.

Another male who was at the location, reportedly saw the incident and threw a stone at Munroe. In response, Munroe allegedly opened fire on the male, hitting him in the abdomen before escaping in a waiting motor vehicle.

Grant was transported to the Kingston Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The injured man was admitted in stable condition.

Munroe was later arrested, interviewed in the presence of his lawyer and formally charged on Tuesday.
