Clarendon farmer charged with assaulting cop
A Clarendon farmer has been charged after reportedly hitting a policeman in the face during an incident at Spaldings town centre in the parish last Saturday.
Andrew Wilkinson, of Bryan's Land, Spaldings, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault at common law. Reports from the Spaldings police are that at 11:30 a.m., lawmen were patrolling the area when they saw Wilkinson, who was wanted by the police. The lawmen approached him and attempted to place him under arrest, however, he resisted and proceeded to hit one officer in his face, causing bruising and swelling. Wilkinson then pulled a weapon and advanced towards the officers in a threatening manner. He was shot during the altercation and taken to the hospital where he was treated and released into police custody.
He was subsequently arrested and charged. His court date is being arranged.
