Sephany Barrett honoured for agricultural excellence

Third-year student at College of Agriculture, Science, and Education (CASE) Sephany Barrett has been awarded the prestigious Dr Richard Jones Scholarship.

The Seprod Foundation-backed scholarship will see Barrett receiving tuition coverage for one year as she pursues her studies in agricultural sciences.

Barrett, a St Ann native, has distinguished herself through outstanding academic performance, leadership, and a deep commitment to sustainable agricultural practices. With a strong interest in food security, climate resilience, and animal genetics, she is determined to contribute to Jamaica's agricultural advancement by applying modern techniques to increase productivity and sustainability.

"I am honoured to be part of Dr Richard Jones' legacy and look forward to contributing to Jamaica's agricultural sector in a meaningful way," she said.

The Dr Richard Jones Scholarship was established by the Seprod Foundation in honour of the late a pioneer in agricultural education and development.

CASE president, Dr Derrick Deslandes, commended Barrett on her achievement and highlighted the impact of the scholarship.

"This scholarship is a testament to Dr Richard Jones' enduring influence in agriculture and education. We deeply appreciate the Seprod Foundation's generous support, which provides invaluable assistance to one of our students.
