Leoda Bradshaw, charged with the murder of a parliamentarian's 10-month-old daughter and her mother, refused to take part in mediation in an assault case in which she was attacked by an inmate while in lock-up.

The matter came up for mention in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, January 23, 2026, when attorney Fabian Campbell, representing the accused Kilfer Gilchrist, requested that the case be referred to mediation. Gilchrist agreed, but Bradshaw visibly shook her head in refusal while consulting with her lawyer, Kelly Hamilton.

With mediation off the table, Parish Court Judge Geneta Smikle postponed the case and ordered that both Bradshaw and Gilchrist be remanded until March 3, 2026.

The assault allegations stem from an incident at the Bridgeport police lock-up in Portmore, St Catherine, where Gilchrist is accused of attacking Bradshaw. Following an investigation, she was arrested and charged with assault.

Bradshaw, meanwhile, is facing separate, serious charges. She has been charged with the murder of 10-month-old Sarayah Paulwell, the daughter of parliamentarian Phillip Paulwell, and the child's 29-year-old mother, Toshyna Patterson.

Investigations in both matters are ongoing, with the next court date for the assault case set for early March.
