Cops find bullets in bag of cornmeal

What looked like an ordinary bag of cornmeal turned out to be anything but, after police uncovered ammunition hidden inside during a late-evening operation in Manchester.

Lawmen assigned to the Manchester Policing Division seized 23 rounds of ammunition in Knock Patrick Gardens, Mandeville, on Wednesday, January 21.

According to police reports, about 6:40 p.m., officers acting on intelligence carried out a search at a premises in the area. During the operation, the ammunition was discovered concealed inside a bag containing cornmeal.

No one was arrested in connection with the find.

The police say investigations are ongoing as they work to determine who is responsible for the ammunition and how it ended up hidden among household items.
