6 p.m. deadline for 'Jahvy Ambassador' as court orders cops to charge or free him
The pressure is mounting in the Big Wall shooting probe as music producer Jahvel 'Jhavy Ambassador' Morrison must be either charged or released by 6 p.m. today, following a court order.
The ruling was handed down by Parish Judge Alicia McIntosh in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court after a habeas corpus application was filed by Morrison's legal team, including attorneys Sayeed Bernard, Richard Lynch, and King's Counsel Peter Champagnie.
Bernard indicated that Morrison is expected to undergo a question-and-answer session with investigators as the clock ticks down on his detention.
Morrison has been in custody since Sunday night's dramatic shooting at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre during the Big Wall after-party, an incident that sent shockwaves through the entertainment scene.
Police report that about 9:30 p.m., a dispute between patrons spiralled into a gunfight, leaving three people nursing gunshot wounds.
Among those injured was popular vlogger Jhaedee 'Jaii Frais' Richards, who was also taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Lawmen say two firearms were seized in connection with the incident, adding another layer to the high-profile probe.
One of the injured men has since been treated and released into custody, while the other two remain hospitalised.
In a dramatic twist, Richards' attorneys also moved to court and secured a similar order, meaning he too must be charged or released by the same 6 p.m. deadline.
With both men now racing against the clock, all eyes are on investigators as they decide their next move in the case that has gripped the public.
The probe is being led by the Half-Way Tree Criminal Investigation Branch.
