Bell stays proud

Coach of St George's College, Neville Bell, said he has never felt let down by his talented players who give of their best.

St George's will begin their Walker Cup defence against Group F winners Excelsior at 1:00 p.m. today at the Constant Spring playing field.

Despite previously being beaten by Innswood 2-1 and Denham Town, also 2-1 in the preliminary round, STGC took Group C honours by way of a superior goal difference.

"I am very proud of these kids," said Bell after his team booked a late FLOW Super Cup spot with a 4-0 win away to Eltham on Tuesday.

"I've always said if you don't have a thick skin, then you shouldn't be doing the job that I do."

Since 2007, Jamaica College and St George's College are the only two teams to have won the Manning Cup.

"I think both teams play under tremendous pressure because everyone wants to beat us so badly," said Bell.

"People have so much expectation for this team, that even when I think we play well, I am told that we didn't look good and we didn't play well because people expect us to be brilliant every game," he said.
