Williams disappointed with World Champs turn

LONDON, England:

Triple Jumper Kimberly Williams was left disappointed with her performance in the World Championships final inside the London Stadium earlier this week.

Williams finished 10th with a best mark of 14.01m in an event that was won by Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, 14.91m, ahead of Caterine Ibarguen,14.89m from Colombian and Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova, 14.77m.

The other Jamaican in the final, Shanieka Ricketts was eighth with a distance of 14.13m.

Williams' best effort came at the first attempt and was followed by a foul and a surprising 13.95m on her final attempt, with the experienced Jamaican failing to secure another three throws after finishing outside the top eight.

"I am disappointed, I know I am better than 14.01m, but I am not upset or anything, it's just what I did on the day, and it just did not come together for me."

She said of her performance. "I can't expect to be mediocre and get into the finals because everyone is coming with their A game, and unfortunately, I came with my Z game. I know that I am good enough to be in the final eight, so it was tough to see it go on without me."

"In 2009, Berlin, and 2011 in Daegu, when I didn't make the finals then, I was young and still inexperienced, but after 2012, I knew that I belonged and I should have done better here and I feel like I let all my fans and family down because I didn't compete as expected," Williams said.

"Moving forward, I just need to do better, get things together, so I would never feel like this again or be in this position."

Williams' finished fifth and fourth at the last two World Championships and was seventh and sixth at the London and Rio Olympics. Her best this season is the 14.60m mark registered at the National Championships.
