The Red Stripe Premier League's (RSPL) leading scorer, Arnett Gardens' Fabian Reid, says that although the race is tight for the Golden Boot award, he remains confident he will be the top marksman at the end of the season.

Reid leads the way on 16 goals, ahead of Craig Foster of Humble Lion who is on 15 goals, Ricardo Morris of Portmore United (11), Kemar 'Bushy' Beckford of Waterhouse (11), Ryan Miller of the University of the West Indies (10) and Dino Williams of Montego Bay United (9).

"The race is tight but it is still my ambition to win the RSPL Golden Boot award for the first time. I have to just continue to work hard. It has been two games since I last scored in the league. We will be playing Harbour View next, a team that I have scored three times against this season, so I know that I can score again this Sunday," Reid told STAR Sports yesterday.

"I had my sights on Roen Nelson's record of 30 goals, but that is a difficult task at this point," he added. "My new target is over 20 goals. The other players chasing are also good goalscorers but they are behind me so I have to continue scoring goals to keep them at bay."

Reid siad Arnett's dip in form since the Caribbean Football Union Club Championship group stage and the off field pay dispute are now behind them and the focus is on retaining the title.

"We need to win on Sunday to move closer to a semi-final spot," Reid pointed out.

"The team went on a little phase, but we will continue to work hard. The players realise that now is the time to move forward. It is crunch time," Reid who is included in the national senior team for a friendly international against Antigua and Barbuda on March 25, concluded.
