Not so fast - Hankinson could return to MBU

Timothy Hankinson, the former technical director of Red Stripe Premier League outfit Montego Bay United (MBU), says that when he told the media that last Wednesday's match would be his last with the club, he was speaking from his emotions after a disappointing loss that saw them failing to make the playoffs.

"In this game, you can never say never," said Hankinson who came in January and took relegation out of the argument for the 2016 champions.

"My relationship with the club is very sound, and I consider myself a friend of the club. That's why I came down ... in blind faith, but I had faith that we could get the team back in a competitive direction," he said.

He noted that his relationship with the club remained intact and that he would always offer advice or even return to coach them if possible.

"My relationship will continue with the club. Any kind of advice or conversation I can have to be a sounding board. Whether the door is open for me to return to the coaching base is something you will have to wait and see," said Hankinson, who departed the country on Friday morning.

Operations manager and director of administration at MBU Sandra Christie, who said that the club has some decisions to make for their future, noted that it may still be possible for Hankinson to return.

"It is possible. Tim is a very good coach, classified as a master coach, and we would love for him to return, but we have to pay respect to his commitments, to his family and obligations. He would have to make that decision ... in his best interest," said Christie.
