Mt Pleasant happy to be back in top six

David Galloway, general manager of Mount Pleasant Academy, said Sunday's 3-1 victory over last year's beaten finalist Waterhouse at home was a big moral boost for his team, as they are now back in the top six of the Red Stripe Premier League.

The victory has moved the St Ann-based team from eighth to sixth in the standings, on 10 points, after eight matches. Mount Pleasant record now stands at two wins, four draws and two defeats.

Galloway told STAR Sports that the victory was a welcome relief for his team, which had registered two points in their previous three matches in the competition.

"It is a good feeling, because we were in the bottom six of the table and our aim is to finish the first round in the top six, and so getting a win off Waterhouse, it couldn't be better," said Galloway.

"We are working on it (form) and it is improving day by day, little by little, and so, hopefully, we will get to the peak that we want it to be. But right now the team is getting together more, and it is just for us to keep on this track," he said.

Jourdaine Fletcher, Francois Swaby and Kesslon Hall were the goalscorers for Mount Pleasant, who were a semi-finalist in last year's competition. Andre Fletcher scored the consolation goal for Waterhouse.

Galloway added that the aim of his team is to stay in the top half of the competition, and so they are going to continue to work hard to maintain this position in the table.

"Our aim is to finish in the top six after the first round and then we will pick it up from there," he said. "It is a big moral-boosting win for us because we wanted to move back closer to the top six, and so this game was the perfect one to do it," Galloway said.
