An unbeaten 99 from Evin Lewis, and a four-wicket haul by Alzarri Joseph helped the Windies to a five-wicket win over Ireland in the first Day/Night one day international at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Batting first, the Irish team, who won the toss, posted 180 all out in 46 overs and a delivery after which the Windies followed up with 184 for five in 33 overs and two deliveries.

It was an impressive spell of fast bowling first up by Joseph that broke the backbone of the Irish batting. The tall pacer came into the attack with Ireland at 34 without loss in the seventh over.

Joseph first had Paul Sterling caught at midwicket by captain Kieron Pollard for 15, then he had Delaney caught behind by Shai Hope for 19.

The Antiguan then trapped Kevin O'Brien in front for four, and then removed wicketkeeper Lucan Tucker for 31 to pick up his fourth wicket for just 32 runs in 10 overs.

Pacer Sheldon Cottrell and leg spinner Haden Walsh Jr got in on the act with two wickets each, as only Tucker, with 31, and Mark Adair, with 29, put up any real resistance.

In their turn at bat, the Windies lost Shai Hope for 13 with just 27 runs on the board, however, Lewis and Brandon King put on 71 runs for the second wicket to steady the home team's run chase.

Lewis was in scintillating form, stroking 13 fours and two sixes, as the Windies, despite losing five wickets, got home in a canter with more than 16 overs remaining.

Lewis' unbeaten 99 came off exactly 99 balls as the left-hander finished the match with a four to hand the hosts a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, which continues tomorrow at the same venue.
