Gayle not worried by Waterhouse blip

Having recorded one win in their last four games, Waterhouse head coach Marcel Gayle says he is not worried about his team's drop in form as they will continue to work hard and look to return to the top of the Red Stripe Premier League standings.

Waterhouse, who led the competition after the first round, and majority of the second round, were recently leapfrogged for the top place in the standings by Mount Pleasant. The Drewsland-based outfit are second in the standings with 39 points, one off pole position.

Gayle told STAR Sports that there is still a long way to go in the competition and his players are continuing to improve as the season progresses as they aim to win this year's competition.

"I am not too concerned about it (form), because we know that we are not going to have a smooth season by winning every single game, so we know that our performance is going to dip," Gayle said.

"But nevertheless, there is no need to panic at this stage because we have some of the best players in the league. So we just have to stay focused and just take it one game at time going forward."

Waterhouse have conceded seven goals in their last five outings and Gayle says this is a major concern for him and it is something that they are looking to improve on.

"I think we have been playing well, but unfortunately in some of the games, we are not keeping a clean sheet. But it is something that we are working on," he said.

Waterhouse will play away to Vere United in their next encounter on Sunday.
