Ato Boldon, coach of young Jamaican sprinter Briana Williams, says that his athlete has been making great strides following her recent performance in New York on the weekend.

The four-time Olympic medallist says he was pleased with Briana's performance at the Millrose Games following her personal best time of 7.18 seconds for third in the 60 meters' event.

Williams, who shaved 0.07 seconds off her personal best time which was set at the Orange and Purple Indoor meet in Clemson on January 11, was beaten by Americans Javianne Oliver, who won the event in 7.13 seconds, and Morolake Akinosun, who finished second in 7.16 seconds.

Despite a fast start at the second attempt, following a false start, Boldon says he has seen a lot to know that the little dynamo is making great strides.

"False starts will affect everyone. Briana isn't rattled under pressure. She ran a little tense mid race and that cost her at the 50-metre mark. It's a race she probably should have won, but yes I'm pleased with not just this race but her entire indoor season. It was the right decision and now we will prep for outdoors. She'll be ready," said Boldon.

Williams' next event could be the MT- SAC relays in California in April.
