Having moved up to fifth in the standings, manager of Dunbeholden Paul Christie says they have now put themselves in a strong position to challenge for this season's Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) title.

The St Catherine-based club, who defeated Harbour View 2-0 on Sunday, are on 42 points, the same as defending champions Portmore United, who are in fourth place with two games in hand and a superior goal difference.

With five games remaining in the regular season, only the top six teams at the end of preliminary round will advance to the play-offs.

Christie told STAR Sports that his team is humbled by its achievements so far but they still have a long way to go in the season.

Maintain our position

"As it is now, we are at the point where we need to just try and maintain our position. At the beginning of the season and I told the players that the possibilities are endless and are actually seeing and believing what we are saying now and so they are putting in the work," said Christie.

"We are just one team with one objective and so we don't get too high and we don't get too low," he said. "We celebrate each win as if it is our last win and then the next day we go again to work as if our lives depend on the next game."

Dunbeholden, who are in their second season in the RSPL, finished 10th in the competition last season with 33 points. Christie added that they have worked very hard throughout this season and so they are delighted to be in this position.

"We were fighting to get to 33 points last season and now we have surpassed that now and so we feel like we are improving and we want to continue improving on all fronts," he said.

"At this point of the season, we have a good chance like anybody else to win the league because I know that when you get to the top six it is zero again and so everybody have equal chance of winning the title," Christie said.

Dunbeholden will play away to Humble Lion in their next game.
