After an impressive individual 2019-20 Red Stripe Premier League season, Dunbeholden striker Dean Andre Thomas is heading for a new adventure with his St Catherine neighbours, Portmore United.

The transfer of Thomas is one of the two departures the club organised as the transfer window closed on Friday. Additionally, midfielder Demario Phillips also departs for the 2018-2019 premier league champions.

Dunbeholden manager Paul Christie said that while the transfer was difficult for the club, they respected Thomas's desire to meet a new challenge elsewhere.

"He was our talisman. We know what he can do on the field. It wasn't easy to part ways with Dean Andre Thomas," Christie told STAR Sports. "However, he had expressed the interest in starting a new adventure in his life and we support him 100 per cent."

Before the suspension

Thomas scored 12 goals in the last campaign and was in a four-way tie for second place in the Golden Boot race, before the suspension and cancellation of the league.

Although he will be playing for their parish rivals, Christie said that Thomas would always be welcome at Dunbeholden, and that Portmore United should be pleased at their newest acquisition.

[We let] him know that there will always be a home for him at Dunbeholden, so we wish him well and hope that he continues on his goalscoring path, because he is always improving and he works very hard," Christie. "I can tell you he is a very valuable addition to the Portmore United team; that I can tell you in no uncertain terms."

Dunbeholden have brought in eight players to their squad in preparation for the upcoming campaign which starts on November 14, pending the approval of health protocols from the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Among the additions areTramaine Stewart and Keithy Simpson from Waterhouse, Johann Weatherly from Mount Pleasant, and Cleon Price from Portmore United.
