Led by a stellar display from national striker Khadija Shaw, Bordeaux won back-to-back games for the first time this season with a 6-1 drubbing of Fleury 91 in their D1 Feminine match, held on Saturday at the Stade Sainte-Germaine.

The 23-year-old Shaw scored four goals for the first time in a league game as Bordeaux moved to fourth place in the league table with eight points after five games played.

Shaw says that although her debut campaign last year was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic, her desire and motivation remain the same.

"Every season is important. I think my hunger hasn't changed, the only thing changed was the cancellation of the 2019/20 season," Shaw told Star Sports.

Great one-time effort

The goalscoring spree started as early as the eighth minute when Shaw finished from close range after Fleury goalkeeper Laetitia Philippe failed to hold on to the ball. However, Fleury were level just a minute later, thanks to a great one-time effort by Julia Spetsmark. Shaw restored the lead in the 18th minute with a brilliant header and completed her first career hat-trick a minute before half-time, capitalizing on a mistake by Philippe to extended the lead to 3-1 at half-time.

The home team continued pressing their advantage in the second half thanks to goals from Katja Snoeijs in the 50th minute and Clarie Lavogez from the penalty spot in the 60th minute.. Shaw finished off her excellent afternoon with her fourth in the 63rd minute, completing a stellar afternoon and keeping the match ball.

Shaw finished last season with 10 league goals and in October, already leads the league this season with six goals, just ahead of Paris Saint Germain's (PSG) Kadidiatou Diani, who has five.

Shaw will be awarded the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) during the virtual National Awards Ceremony, which will take place on Heroes Day, Monday, October 19. Her next league game will be two days earlier, a trip away to bottom club Issy FF.
