With less than two weeks to go before the start of this year's ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships (Champs), Edwin Allen High School athlete Natasha Fox says she is feeling nervous but confident ahead of the event.

Fox, a 17-year-old Trinidadian, who has been attending Edwin Allen for five months, is down to compete in the Class Two Girls 400m and 400m hurdles events. She has a season's best time of 55.65 seconds in the 400m and a personal best of 1:00.69 minutes in the 400m hurdles.

She told STAR Sports that she has always watched Champs on television in Trinidad and Tobago and she is grateful for the opportunity to now be part of it.

"I don't know much about Champs, but I remember years ago I was looking at it on television and I have seen some of the best schools like Edwin Allen and St Jago and I always felt like I was missing out on something big and something special," Fox said. "When I saw that I had the opportunity to come here and represent Edwin Allen, it was an opportunity that I could not give up.

"It is kind of a dream come true because I always wanted to compete against top class athletes and I am doing that right now and I am really happy about that."

Fox says that her teammates have been supportive of her and they have shown her love and respect.

"The girls here have been amazing, they are the most supportive and most committed kind of girls that I have been around," Fox said.

Edwin Allen will be seeking their eighth straight girls title.

"My expectation for Champs is to make sure that I score as many points as possible for myself and for my team because I feel like that is the most important thing to myself and to the team.

"I think that we are a very strong team and I am quite confident that we will retain our title."
