Portmore allow late goal in 1-1 draw with Waterhouse

Portmore United surrendered a late goal and had to settle for a 1-1 draw against host Waterhouse at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium yesterday.
Portmore coach Phillip Williams said sloppy defending cost them the three points on the day.
"The team played solidly. We had a lot of changes through injury but the guys really did a good job. They really stepped up and put in a good shift."
"It's simple principle of defending. The defender should have drawn his line where he should have made the tackle," he said.
Jevick McFarlane headed Portmore into the lead in the 70th minute but Shaquille Bradford's strike five minutes from time earned Waterhouse a point.
"Shaquille has started to work hard and understand and feel back in the groove. And when he is fit and easy, he will deliver," Waterhouse coach Marcel Gayle commented.
Waterhouse had the better start with Bradford wasting a good header in the 17th minute.
Rushane Thompson, Akeem Mulling and Emelio Rousseau all went close to scoring for Portmore.
After the break, Bradford and Orlando Brown wasted good chances before Portmore took the lead after 75 minutes when McFarlane headed home from Rousseau's precise free kick.
However, Waterhouse went in search of the equaliser and was rewarded when goalkeeper Benjamin Williams failed to stop a shot and Bradford turned home from four yards, four minutes from time.
Waterhouse stayed seventh with 17 points, while Portmore remain in eighth with 16 points.
