READY TO prove his worth as the head of a programme, new St Andrew High head coach Matheu Tapper says that he hopes to build the school into a competitive force in the Corporate Area the same way he did as part of Immaculate Conception High's programme.

Tapper was speaking at Monday's media day for the Tapp Track Academy created to mould the next athletes of tomorrow, athletes that will be a part of the JISA/Little Caesar's Prep School Championships which starts tomorrow. Tapper has coached at all levels, including being a part of the staff at Immaculate Conception. But the chance to head a programme of his own is one that he has relished to seize

"It is exciting. I have been waiting for this opportunity for a while. I feel that I am ready for it. So I am excited about that journey. St Andrew High, we don't really have a big programme right now. We are starting from scratch but I am excited," Tapper said.

Tapper has his focus on emulating the climb that the Immaculate has enjoyed in being one of the top schools in the Corporate Area, a task that he knows will take time to build.

"We want to become a dominant force in the Corporate Area. I feel like we don't have enough corporate schools battling for the top. Right now Immaculate is getting there. But you have got a lot of very good people at Immaculate and I want to compete against them. So I am looking forward to that," Tapper said.

Aware of what it takes to have a successful programme, especially financially, Tapper said that he is determined to show results to get that backing but is pleased that he has the full support of the school's administration to elevate the programme.

"I have been getting support from the staff there so far. But it is a new programme and track and field programmes tend to thrive on sponsorships so I have to kind of show my worth first which I am eager to do. But I am excited about the future. I think that we will grow and grow fast," Tapper said.
