Fairfield United managed to hold their nerve in a thrilling showdown at the Port Rhodes Sports Club in Discovery Bay, St Ann, to secure the 2023 Social Development Commission CAL's sponsored National Community T20 Cricket title following a six-wicket Duckworth/Lewis method win over Junction Ballard's Valley in their rain-affected final.

In a match that was reduced to seven overs per side, Junction were asked to take first strike and posted a modest total of 45 runs for eight wickets off their allotted overs. Troy Powell hit a quick-fire 20 off eight balls which included three sixes.

Oshane Walters and Adrian Silvera played pivotal roles in the Fairfield bowling attack with Walters grabbing three wickets for just two runs, and Silvera taking two wickets for seven runs.

Chasing a revised target of 43 runs due to the rain interruption, Fairfield had Player of the Match Walters to thank, as his unbeaten 23 runs off 15 balls, guided his team to victory at 44 for four in 5.5 overs.

It was the second championship in just three years for Fairfield, highlighting their consistent performance in the T20 cricket format. The victory also came with a lucrative prize of $1.5 million.

In other divisions of the tournament, the St Mary Angels secured their third consecutive Women's T10 title after defeating Talented Blazers by nine wickets. Talented Blazers posted 77 runs for three wickets, and St Mary Angels comfortably reached the target for the loss of one wicket. National player Jodian Morgan scored an unbeaten 52 runs which earned her the Player of the Match award.

In the Masters T10 category, Portland Masters emerged victorious, beating Western Strikers by 38 runs. Portland Masters posted a formidable total of 105 for four, with Lerone Tyrell scoring 47 runs. Western Strikers struggled in their response, managing only 67 runs.
