President Paul Bernard says the early signs for Treasure Beach Football Club in this year's Jamaica Premier League are promising despite the debutants losing their season opener away to Humble Lion.

With their second-round encounter postponed to facilitate the Concacaf Women's Gold Cup qualifying game last weekend, the St Elizabeth-based outfit will be keen to get the ball rolling again when they travel to Ferdie Neita Park this Sunday to face Portmore United.

According to Bernard, Treasure Beach have been keeping busy, now realising what it takes to be a force to be reckoned with in the island's top league.

"We were able to use the two weeks to activate more people to come on board. We played a strong Manchester XI last Sunday and won 5-0, so we are using that to motivate the players for Sunday," said Bernard.

Bernard also highlighted that Treasure Beach support is also gaining vital traction, with several corporate entities set to put pen to paper for financial help.

"We have a fruits and vegetable hotel supplier who is set to come on board substantially. Another corporate entity will be coming on board at our next home match, and they have promised us $3 million, with another company also pledging $1 million, which they will present at the Lime Hall game at halftime," he said.

Bernard also mentioned that the executives will provide all they can to support the coaching staff, but they will be banking on mostly home-grown players during their first season in the top league.

"We are comfortable with the team that we have, and we will be using the same players from the first game against Humble Lion, but we are gaining traction, and you will see it come Sunday with our fan support as well," he said.
