Dance carefully in Sunday’s Reggae 6

THOUGH BABYLOVE won like an out-of-class horse when beating non-winners of two races by 10 lengths on July 14, avoid the double-digit, rule-of-thumb argument by playing it safe in Sunday's Reggae 6 opener.

Spread bets among four runners in the five-and-a-half furlong event - BABYLOVE, SHE'S A MIRAGE, SUGAR SUGAR and BLINKIN LIGHT - ensuring ample insurance against a fast and testing pace, which could collapse.

Similarly, GIVEMETHELIGHT, ESUSE ME GOODBY and MILLINIUM STAR must be on all bets in the second event for older non-winners of two races. At five and a half furlongs with fitness suspect, the small six-horse field is a potential minefield.

The tricky Reggae 6 could also have a springer in the third at seven furlongs. Do not underestimate UNRULY DUDE at seven furlongs. He got caught in REGNANT's solid fractions of 12 seconds for every furlong until weakening late.

In a slower pace with Robert Halledeen aboard, UNRULY DUDE can be better rated and will try stealing a march. INSPIRED MIRACLE and SIR JOHN are both middle-distance specialists and must be factored. However, TIGRAY EXPRESS comes in as the head-turner at exercise, 1:31.4 for seven furlongs.

Bank EQUINOX to go on another romp after dismissing four-year-old maidens on debut at five furlongs straight a month ago. Breaking from stall one should pose no problem against exposed non-winners of two races, many of whom will start 2025 as five-year-olds with similar credentials.

Look no further than PRINCESS RIA and BEAUTIFUL MOON to decide the fifth for four-year-old maidens at four furlongs straight, before closing all bets by playing it safe in the sixth.

PHENOMENAL ONE, SENSATIONAL GOLD, FUNOMETER and SILVER FOX are the speed horses to be on in the sixth, a blink sprint at four furlongs straight intended as a water obstacle for surviving Reggae 6 tickets.
