Haile Selassie High School will aim for a better result when they tackle Camperdown High School in a Zone D ISSA/WATA Manning Cup football match at Alpha Boys' School, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

The teams enter the contest with contrasting records as Camperdown edged Kingston Technical High 2-1 in their opening game of the group and Haile Selassie fell 3-0 to Calabar High.

Haile Selassie head coach, Linval Dixon, believes his team has learnt from their defeat and will put in a much better showing against Camperdown.

"It was a disappointing start, but this was the first game," Dixon said after his team's loss to Calabar High.

"We played a good team. We won't take anything away from that. Now it's just for us to learn and to move forward. There are some areas we have to improve on, and once we get that fixed, we'll come better and stronger."

Another school that will seek to extend its winning record this afternoon is Wolmer's Boys', who will play against Denham Town High in a Zone E match at St Andrew Technical High School.

The boys from Heroes' Circle are coming off a 3-1 victory over St Jago High and sit second in the group on goal difference behind Tivoli Gardens High.

Wolmer's, coached by Jerome Waite, are one of the favourites to advance from the group despite the team's young core and inexperience at the Manning Cup level.

After their opening win on Monday, Waite said the team would continue to improve as they become more accustomed to playing in the under-19 age group.

"I think the youngsters played well. We had five players from the under-16s who were added to the squad, and all of them got the opportunity to play top flight at the schoolboy level," he said. "It is always difficult because a lot of learning is taking place, and the more they play, it is the more they learn. There are always areas for improvement."

Denham Town are hoping to bounce back from disappointment in their first game, where they were thrashed 4-1 by west Kingston neighbours Tivoli Gardens High.
