St Jago hunt first win; Wolmer’s, Tivoli clash

September 24, 2024

When St Jago High School travel to Edith Dalton James High today for Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Manning Cup Zone E action, the objective will be to turn around their poor start to the season by capturing all three points.

The Spanish Town-based St Jago High have lost their two opening games of the competition. They were defeated 3-1 by Wolmer's Boys' in their first match, before falling to a close 1-0 defeat to Tivoli Gardens Comprehensive High.

The results mean they sit at the bottom of Zone E as the only team yet to put a point on the board, trailing far behind group leaders Wolmer's and Tivoli Gardens High, who are level on nine points each.

After two tough games, St Jago will be more confident that they can turn their fortunes around, and against the less fancied Edith Dalton James. Even though the latter are also without a win this season, they have registered a single point, following their 1-1 draw with St Mary's College.

The Duhaney Park-based institution will be hoping to avoid a loss at home, which could see them sinking to the foot of the table, depending on results in the other zonal fixtures.

Also in Zone E, there will be a top-of-the-table clash between Wolmer's Boys' and Tivoli Gardens High at The Mico University College playing field.

Both teams are enjoying a three-game win streak, but the Wolmerians hold the advantage with a superior goal difference.

Wolmer's will be hoping to continue from their 8-0 demolition of St Mary's College last time out, while Tivoli Gardens are fresh off a close 1-0 victory over St Jago.

All games are set to kick off at 3:30 p.m.
