Reggae Girlz goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer is hoping to leave her mark at Barclay's Women's Super League (WSL) outfit Tottenham Hotspur as she penned a new deal keeping her at the North London club through to 2026.

"I'm over the moon," she said. "I have been here for a long time now. So, for me, it was important that I got this done."

Spencer, now in her sixth season at the club, said she looks towards continuing her career in the WSL.

She hopes to use her experience in top-flight football to inspire and help younger players as they begin their first steps in the sport.

"Throughout my career, I have always wanted to be at a club where, once I do finish my playing career, I can leave it in a better state than it was," she explained.

"So, for me, not only on the pitch but also off the pitch, I hope to help the youngsters and everyone else coming through, so, when my time is done, I can leave feeling happy."

Spencer first joined Tottenham in 2019 after spending a season with West Ham United. The 33 year-old had made her debut for the club in their first WSL game, a 1-0 loss to Chelsea.

Despite the result, she said the game was one of her most memorable moments wearing the club's shirt, as it marked a new chapter in her and the club's career.

"I have had a lot, so it's quite hard to choose but I think, for me, the first-ever game I played for the club, which was at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea, no one knew what to expect from us at that moment," she explained.

"There was a lot of supporters and that's when we kind of arrived. It was difficult for us during that pre-season to then turning up and losing just 1-0 was something we were proud of at the time and, now, we're competing against those teams."

She added, "For me, the experience has been great. I have loved every single minute of playing in the WSL and I'm just happy that I can continue that."

Spencer has been a mainstay for Tottenham and the Reggae Girlz as well having made her international debut in 2021 during a 1-0 win over Nigeria.

She has since made six appearances this season for her club in the WSL where they sit seventh in the standings.

Her next assignment will see her facing off against international teammate Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw when Tottenham takes on Manchester City on Friday.
