Hungry Harbour View hunt full points against Molynes United
Sitting just inside the relegation zone, Harbour View FC are hoping for a much-needed win to get their season back on track when they face off against Molynes United FC in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League (JPL) this Sunday at Drax Hall Sports Complex.
The match is the first game of a double-header. In the feature matchup, home team Mount Pleasant Football Academy will play host to Dunbeholden FC as they bid to extend their lead at the top of the table.
It has been a poor start to life for the Stars of the East as they sit 13th in the standings with 12 points from 15 games.
The former champions have only won one game in their last 12 outings, with their most recent victory in November, a 3-1 win over JPL debutants Racing United.
Harbour View FC's head coach Donald Stewart said one of the main reasons behind his team's poor performance has been their inability to consistently create opportunities to score.
Stewart had started the season as assistant coach for the club, but has since been appointed to the helm following the dismissal of Jason 'Buju' Henry over a month ago.
Speaking ahead of their next match, Stewart is confident the team will turn their season's fortunes around sooner than later.
"Our main issue is in the final third, when we are creating goals to score or setting up opportunities for our teammates to score," he said.
"It always seems positive for us. We're always looking for that change and we're going to get the change," Stewart insisted.
Standing in their way will be a confident Molynes United who are fresh off a 5-0 drubbing of Vere Phoenix last Sunday.
The Kingston-based club has seen a new lease on life as they welcomed several young faces from the schoolboy football competitions, including McGrath High School's midfielder Devone Davis, who bagged a hat-trick in their last outing.
Molynes United FC have also been active in the transfer market, as they have brought in Peter McGregor from Althone Town FC in the League of Ireland First Division.
McGregor is a proven goalscorer in the JPL, scoring 10 goals in 39 appearance for former club Dunbeholden FC.
Molynes United will be hoping to make it two wins in a row as they eye a spot further up the table. They currently sit 11th with 13 points.
In their first meeting this season, Harbour had bagged all three points in a come-from-behind 2-1 win at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
Montego Bay United, however, will hope to keep up the pressure as they sit close in second. Montego Bay will take on Chapelton Maroons, who are aiming to close the gap on the top six positions in the league.
Also in action will be Humble Lion, who will face off against Vere Phoenix at the Effortville Community Centre.
With Humble sitting at the foot of the table and Vere Phoenix just a point above the relegation zone, both Clarendon teams will need a win in a tightly contested relegation fight.
