Warrican earns career-best Test ranking
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates:
West Indies leg spinner Jomel Warrican has catapulted 12 spots up the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings following his historic performance in the first Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium.
Despite the West Indies losing by 127 runs inside three days, Warrican grabbed 7-32 in the second innings and finished with match figures of 10-101, the best bowling figures by a West Indian at the venue and third best by a visiting bowler.
In the latest rankings, the 32-year-old Warrican moved up from 53rd to 41st, surpassing his previous best ranking of 50th.
Fast bowler Jayden Seales remains the highest ranked West Indian bowler at number 12, with Kemar Roach the next highest at 19.
Pacer Alzarri Joseph dropped three spots to 33rd, while Jason Holder slipped two places to 34th.
Meanwhile, West Indies middle order batsman Alick Athanaze was the biggest mover in the batting rankings, leaping 14 spots to 60th on the back of his 55 in the second innings against Pakistan.
However, Test skipper Kraigg Brathwaite slipped two spots to 52nd after his batting struggles continued in the first Test.
Charles misfires as Warriorz's struggles continue
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates:
Johnson Charles failed to fire for the Sharjah Warriors and they were soundly thrashed by 10-wickets by the Desert Vipers when the International League T20 (ILT20) continued at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday.
Charles made just four and none of his teammates put up any resistance against the Vipers' bowling attack, as they were skittled out for 91 in 19.1 overs.
Left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir took 4-24 and Wanindu Hasaranga snared 3-10 to help rout the Warriorz.
The services of Sherfane Rutherford weren't even required, as Fakhar Zaman then blasted an unbeaten 71 from 39 balls with seven fours and four sixes and his opening partner Alex Hales finished on 23 not out, as the Vipers raced to 95 without loss in 10 overs.
With the win, the Vipers remained at the top of the table with 10 points from six matches, while Warriorz slumped to their third defeat in five games to remain second from bottom on four points.
