BENGALURU, India:

Deandra Dottin's heroics with the bat weren't needed, but she made a handy contribution with the ball as the Gujarat Giants Women comfortably defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women by six wickets in the Women's Premier League (WPL) on Thursday.

After winning the toss and electing to field at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, the Giants did well to limit the Challengers to 125 for seven in their 20 overs.

Dottin took 2-31 with her medium pace, while Tanuja Kanwar grabbed 2-16 to lead a disciplined Giants bowling attack.

Kanika Ahuja topscored with 33 from 28 balls, while Raghvi Bist made 22 and Georgia Wareham finished unbeaten on 20.

Skipper Ashleigh Gardner then slammed 58 off 31 balls with six fours and three sixes and Phoebe Litchfield cracked an unbeaten 30 as the Giants got home with 21 balls to spare, finishing on 126 for four.

Dottin, who faced just two balls in the innings, was unbeaten on a duck.
